Showed up to Daley Plaza to snap a shot of Picasso. Just so happened to get there at the exact same time as a Critical Mass meet up. Lots of bikes, lots of crazy outfits, lots of dogs in baskets. The best part was after I left here I hopped on a train half way across town and when I came out of the station all the same people were riding by. I recognized lots of them.

The infamous “bean” also called “Cloud Gate”. It took me a while to notice the city skyline reflected in the mirror. It was a popular spot for tourists, luckily I wasn’t one of them. I was just passing by.

The weather in San Francisco has been rainy and cold. On my walk to work one day I got pelted by dime sized hail. The next day a downpour soaked me so bad I had to change my socks and walk around the office shoeless for the better part of the day. All this is reminding me a bit of back east but as bad as the weather can seem at the time there is something familiar and comforting about the days where you just want soup for lunch. Really haven’t felt that in the 5 previous years I’ve spent in California.

Caught an extremely rare version of Waterfire in the dead of winter.

I was in San Diego for work and decided to grab a hotel downtown. After a quick dinner in Horton Plaza I finished up some work in the hotel room then headed out for a walk to relax and get some air. Snapped these two shots in and around Little Italy (which is absolutely dead at night).

Walking through downtown San Diego this building facade caught my eye. At a certain point in my life I had an unhealthy obsession with root beer. I made a habit of buying bottled root beers and identifying the ingredient mixes laced with more vanilla than wintergreen. A&W quickly became my go to cheap root beer (hands down the best of the normal stuff). I argued at the time that of all the vices one could have root beer was relatively harmless. While my argument was/is sound I sort of just up and stopped drinking soda all together about a year ago, without much reason other than I just did.

Aside from the root beer theme I also liked the vintage signage. Got me wondering how long the walls had been there as the Hires & Dr. Pepper brands date back more than a 100yrs.
